In Summer 2024, I will be leading a study abroad program to Vienna, Austria.  This experience is designed specifically for Computer Science undergraduate students (BS CS, BS ACS, and CS minors) and is one of the first faculty-led CS-specific study abroad opportunities in the country.  Updates will be posted on this page as more details emerge.  Please see the important links to the left, including a draft syllabus. Students interested in learning more about this and other study abroad opportunities, please plan to attend the Study Abroad Fair on September 19.

Students completing this program will receive 6 credits that directly apply to their BS CS or BS ACS degree. CS minors may also make use of these credits. Specifically, students will receive credit for CS 321 (Software Engineering) and ENGR 398 (Applied Engineering Abroard). These courses will be designed to provide students with practical experience in software engineering within an international context.

Through hands-on projects and real-world scenarios, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC) and develop the necessary skills to work effectively in distributed team environments. Students will also have the opportunity to appreciate the rich history of technology and manufacturing in Austria, particularly as it relates to software engineering. The term project for this course will result in the development of a software application incorporating the study abroad experience.
