Visiting Assistant Professor PositionsThe Department of Computer Science in the Volgenau School of Information Technology and Engineering at George Mason University invites applications for two one-year visiting faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2008. The first position is in the area of Computer Game Design (position #F9152z). Applicants must have a research focus on computer game technology — for example, in the areas of artificial intelligence, computer graphics, real-time animation, simulation and modeling, distributed systems, computer security, and software engineering as applied to computer games. The second position is in Information Security and Assurance (position #F9151z). Security research at George Mason is conducted in access control methods and models, authentication, network security, intrusion detection and prevention, database security, operating systems security, vulnerability analysis, security theory, and security policy. Minimum qualifications for both positions include a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field, demonstrated potential for excellence and productivity in research, and a commitment to high quality teaching. The department has over 40 faculty members with wide-ranging research interests including artificial intelligence, algorithms, bioengineering, computer graphics, computer vision, databases, data mining, security, human computer interaction, parallel and distributed systems, real-time systems, robotics, software engineering, and wireless and mobile computing.
